I think the events of the last couple days are best expressed in “Good News/Bad News” style.
Bad News: We are in the middle of a severe drought. Monday’s temperature topped 100°.
Good News: Rainstorm last night brought much needed precipitation to our neck of the woods. Downpour and wind for nearly an hour. Yay!
Bad News: Discovered [...]

The agency I was working for is apparently going through some “financial restructuring.” That’s resulted in the dismissal of at least eight employees. I’m one of the lucky ones, I guess.
This all happened around 12:30 [...]

The wedding of a child of a divorce can be a very. delicate. thing. As Susie’s daughter, Jen’s, nuptials drew closer, it’s fair to say that there was a good deal of apprehension and anxiety. Of course, the ceremony and reception came off without incident. The world did not explode. The bride was absolutely stunning. [...]

Heading home to Ohio this week. Lots to do, crammed into the two days before we leave. Finding time to post an entry amid the chaos has been… a challenge. Jen is getting married on the 12th and we’ll be there the whole week before doing the family thing and all other sorts of helping [...]

Our peach tree failed to produce any fruit this season. Severe drought is to blame. Where the peach failed, though, our plum tree successful. Too successful. Today is primary day in South Carolina. I’ve decided to abstain. Partly because I’m ill-informed about the local and state offices and the individuals running for said offices. But mostly I think it’s because I’m burnt out on politics, what with the seemingly never-ending Democratic Presidential campaign and the lengthiness of the overall Presidential election [...]

In another life (read “college”), I painted. My mother was kind enough to bring some of my old paintings down when my family visited over Memorial Day. The plan had been to hang the two or three pieces she carted from Ohio. These suckers are big (4ft by 3ft) and as it turns out, don’t [...]

Susie and I hosted my family this past weekend. It was a whirlwind two-and-a-half days. Yay!) and lots of food. Plus, we [...]
