Susie left for the Buckeye State this morning. Her daughter is receiving her Masters and the graduation ceremony is this weekend. Also, it gives her a chance to see the kids and the rest of her family on Mother’s Day.

I got home from work at approximately 6:00pm and Bachelor Weekend™ officially kicked off.

Aside from work on Friday, I’m not entirely sure what I’ll do with myself over the next three or so days. I did stop at the library to pick up some entertainment. I’ve been dipping my toes in the wide world of Battlestar Galactica lately, with the current season. I’m somewhat up-to-date on the history of the show (having studied wikis and TelevisionWithoutPity recaps) but I’ve not watched very much of the three previous seasons. Unfortunately the time to catch up will not be this weekend, the library only has season 2 on DVD. For shame!

So instead I picked up some Mystery Science Theatre 3000 discs. I haven’t watched the show since it went off the air while I was in college. I’m interested to see if it still holds up. I could have taken the easy way and grabbed one of the episodes I know I love, but I chose to borrow episodes that I’m not familiar with. We’ll see if Mike, Joel and the bots can still bring the funny.

When I need an excuse to leave the soft glow of my television, I also checked out a book by Dan Kennedy. He’s written for McSweeney’s and after hearing his interview on the Sound of Young America I thought I’d look into his books. The library did not have his latest, so I had to settle for a previous memoir.

Even with all this, I expect I’ll be bored to tears by mid-day Saturday. Drive safely, but get home soon, Susie.

  1. If you are an MST3k riffing mood, and want to know if it holds up, I can tell you that “The Oozing Skull” from the Cinematic Titanic crew (Joel, Trace and anyone not involved in Rifftrax) is ABSOLUTELY as good as one of the best Mst3k era shows.

The Oozing Skull is really, really well done. They are making 3 more new “Cinematic Titanic” episodes too, so it seems to have been a success.

    It’s available online here: http://www.eztakes.com/store/movie/The-Oozing-Skull-Movie-Download.jsp

Also, if you want to say, revisit the horror of the Star Wars Holiday Special, Rifftrax has you covered. Rifftrax episodes occasionally sit at the “funny, but with a few too many fart jokes” level of humor most of the time.

  2. Torgo - I’ll check out the clip before I purchase “The Oozing Skull” but I realize now that I never watched/listened to RiffTrax take on “Phantom Menace.” If I have the fortitude, I might correct that oversight this weekend.

Eric - Visiting the grocery store tonight. White cheddar popcorn is on the list. In fact it may be the entire list.
