We traveled home for our first Christmas there since moving to South Carolina. Thankfully, the weather cooperated. It was a little rainy on our two travel days but our time in Ohio was beautiful. We were even greeted by a light dusting of snow on the morning of Christmas Eve.

Lots of running back and forth between houses, seeing family and friends. It created a lot of stress for the dogs, but they were well cared for and handled it in stride.

Susie and I have a good system working; her family exchange gifts on Christmas Eve before Midnight Mass and mine does it on Christmas morning.

It’s weird being back at “home” as an adult. The whole time that I was at my parent’s house, I kept having feelings simultaneously of being a kid and a grown-up. There are in-jokes and traditions that we share as well as new responsibilities. Plus, the presents.

My Mom and Jen spoiled us again, as usual. But, the hands-down biggest hits for me this year were “Star Wars: A Pop-up Guide to the Galaxy” and a Nintendo Wii. My brother went above and beyond with the gift giving this year. Susie and I were floored by this surprise.

A handful of photos are up on Flickr.

On Wednesday we had a Christmas party at work. The above was my costume.

It was a Redneck Christmas party.

Lunch was good ol’ southern bar-b-que with pulled pork, ribs and chicken. Moon pies for dessert. “Redneck” Christmas carols, which amounted to traditional songs played with a banjo.

I won second place for best costume, a $10 gift card to Wal-Mart. How appropriate. More pictures on Flickr.
